Title: Ethical and Equity Considerations for Healthcare AI Applications

Abstract: Healthcare AI applications are powerful tools with the potential to shift the practice of medicine. Like any other technical innovation, this requires thoughtful adoption and implementation of technology in a way that is mindful of the risks and benefits as well as unintended consequences related to access and outcomes. In this talk we will discuss some of major regulatory, ethical, and equity considerations related to the widespread deployment of AI in healthcare.

Bio: Juan Espinoza Salomon, M.D., is the Chief Research Informatics Officer at Lurie Children's Hospital and Associate Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Data Science at Northwestern University. He is also the Director and Principal Investigator of the Consortium for Technical & Innovation in Pediatrics, an FDA funded pediatric medical device accelerator. His research focuses on identifying, refining, and innovating approaches to using data, media, and technology to improve health outcomes and narrow the health gap faced by marginalized communities in the US and abroad.
