Mark Anastasio, Ph.D.

Mark Anastasio is the head of the department of Bioengineering as well as a Donald Biggar Willett Professor in Engineering at the University of Illinois. He is affiliate faculty in the department of Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Carle Illinois College of Medicine, and Beckman Institute. His primary research concerns computational imaging science, image reconstruction, machine learning, and inverse problems. He holds six patents and has published over 150 articles. He was selected as an AIMBE Fellow in 2015 and SPIE Fellow in 2017, and has served as an external advisory board member at the Illinois Institute of Technology Biomedical Engineering since 2020.
