Twelve undergraduate interns are joining the 2022 Jump ARCHES Summer Internship Program, led by HCESC. The internship pairs students up with project teams led by UIUC faculty and OSF Healthcare/UICOMP researchers that have active Jump ARCHES awards. We've asked each intern to tell us a little about themselves. We'd like to introduce you to Pai Zheng!

Pai is working with IESS Professor Dusan Stipanovic and Ann Horowitz, OT, of OSF on the Jump ARCHES project Community-based Tele-Rehabilitation Health Network for Robotic Stroke Therapy. Development of AI based algorithms, establishing wireless communication between robots; This project is meant to remotely facilitate the rehabilitation of stroke patients. Implemented in three phases, it allows the patients at home to get trained by therapist(s) at the hospital, then provide some artificial intelligence based setups/games for the patients to improve their skills without any human support, and finally connect the patients to volunteers across the globe to further acquire expertise in specific tasks he might need in daily life.
