Garrett Vygantas is a physician entrepreneur and healthcare investor who brings over 15 years of experience in health care, biotech, medtech, diagnostics, HCIT and digital health to Jump Capital.
He received his Medical Degree and MBA from Georgetown University, completed his clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania, and undergraduate work in Biochemistry at Boston College. Garrett left full time practice and academics to join Genentech for the launch of Lucentis™, a $4B therapeutic franchise for the treatment of age related macular degeneration.=
From Genentech, Garrett joined the Burrill Venture Capital group where he led investments in biotech, medtech and health care IT companies. Most recently and over the past 7 years he founded and served as the first CEO and subsequently as a senior executive of NewBridge Pharmaceuticals, a Dubai-based specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the emerging markets. During his tenure the company grew to 100+ employees, raised over $65 million in financing and created $470 million in nominal value.
Garrett has served on a wide variety of corporate and non-profit boards in his career. He is a frequent lecturer at UCSF and is Kauffman Fellow of Class 13.
